The trade-off in always-listening wearable features: Apple's Series 12 / Ultra 4 audio intelligence (apple-watch) processes conversations 24/7 in the S11's hardware-isolated secure Exclave — raw audio inaccessible even to Apple, no speaker annotation, summaries deliberately non-quotable (the one exception: a 15-second Live Rewind snippet sent to Siri becomes exact quotable text), with focus-mode-style place/time enablement rules. The mitigations are real, but dc-rainmaker's objection stands regardless of architecture: "if we learned anything about technology from the last few years, eventually things get broken" — a permanent summary of everything you say is a liability even when it's only for yourself. Also unpriced: the battery cost of 24/7 processing, deferred to the later-2026 beta yet already baked into the 24h battery claim. rob-ter-horst noted the same features are EU-excluded at launch.

The Ultra 4 hands-on adds the design rationale and sharpens the objection: summarizing rather than transcribing is a deliberate legal choice — "you're not having something that theoretically anyways is transcribing your entire day" — and the per-feature toggles work like focus modes (only at home / not at work / certain days). His two-part worry: he doesn't want every conversation with his wife or kids summarized behind the scenes, and "sometimes the most secure implementations aren't as secure as we thought at the end of the day."
